Last updated: August 12, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how California Appearances("we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and services (the "Platform").

1. Information we collect

  • Account data: name, email, phone, address, firm name, California State Bar number, website, practice areas, counties of coverage, and profile bio.
  • Appearance requests: court, county, hearing details, case identifiers, notes, and uploaded documents.
  • Payment data: processed by Stripe. We store Stripe customer/Connect identifiers and payment status flags; we do not store full card numbers or SSNs/EINs (those stay with Stripe for payouts and tax reporting).
  • Usage data: device/browser information, IP address, pages viewed, and approximate location, including via analytics (e.g., Google Analytics) when enabled.
  • Communications: emails and messages you send us, and transactional emails we send (e.g., job alerts).

2. How we use information

  • Operate the marketplace (matching, acceptance, payouts).
  • Send job alerts and service notices to attorneys who opt in.
  • Verify Bar numbers on a best-effort basis.
  • Prevent fraud, enforce Terms, and secure the Platform.
  • Improve product performance and marketing attribution.
  • Comply with law and respond to lawful requests.

3. How we share information

We may share information with:

  • Other users as needed for an appearance (e.g., firm name on a request; attorney name after acceptance; reviews).
  • Service providers such as Firebase/Google Cloud, Stripe, and email delivery providers (e.g., Resend), under contractual confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal / safety recipients when required by law or to protect rights and safety.
  • Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

We do not sell personal information for money.

4. California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents may request to know, delete, or correct certain personal information, and to opt out of “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising where applicable. Email mail@wra.law with the subject “California Privacy Request.” We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. We do not knowingly sell the personal information of minors under 16.

5. Retention & security

We retain account and transaction records as needed to operate the Platform, meet tax/legal obligations, and resolve disputes. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards; no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

6. Cookies & analytics

We and our providers may use cookies and similar technologies for authentication, preferences, and analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings; some features may not work if cookies are disabled.

7. Children

The Platform is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

8. Changes & contact
